Role and Responsibilities:
The Host/Hostess serves as the first point of contact for guests and plays a key role in creating a warm, welcoming dining experience while supporting smooth restaurant operations.
- Greet guests warmly in person and over the phone.
- Make, confirm, and manage reservations.
- Seat guests promptly and professionally, ensuring a smooth flow of service.
- Maintain a friendly, polished demeanor that reflects positively on the Hotel & Restaurant.
- Welcome guests with a smile and courteous greeting; record guest names in the reservation book during evening service.
- During daytime service, seat guests seamlessly and present menus.
- Assist guests courteously with seating, including chair service when needed.
- Ensure gift shop and wine cabinets are locked or unlocked at appropriate times of service.
- Wipe down and inspect menus before storing them and as they are returned.
- Adjust lighting and window shades throughout the day to maintain an inviting atmosphere, creating a more romantic setting in the evening.
- Assist with water, beverages, and table clearing as time allows, while prioritizing guests and phone responsibilities at the host stand.
- Prepare coffee and espresso beverages when applicable and if no barista is on shift.
- Complete assigned side work to maintain dining room cleanliness and organization.
- Assist servers as needed, particularly when support staff is unavailable.
- Process various payment types and operate the point of sale system for transactions, including gift shop sales.
- Maintain thorough knowledge of food and beverage menus.
- Work collaboratively as a team player with all Hotel and Restaurant employees.
- Perform additional related duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Education Requirements:
- Ability to speak, read, write, and understand the primary language of the work location.
- Professional appearance with excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and to stoop, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds.
- Must obtain and maintain a valid Food Handler’s Card & OLCC permit within 30 days of employment.
- Maintain a tactful, courteous, and cooperative attitude with guests, managers, and coworkers.
- Demonstrate reliability with regular and dependable attendance.
- Exhibit strong teamwork and the ability to build respectful, collaborative working relationships.
- Maintain neat, clean attire, well-groomed hair, and excellent personal hygiene.
